Proline RLE: SC-100 Water Leak Detector + LDZ / LD5000 Control
One of the most effective WATER LEAK DETECTION concepts is the SC-100 intelligent cable sensor promoted by PROLINE. (Manufactured in USA by RLE Technologies) . Using a non-conductive cable as the detection medium , it is less prone to false alarms from the cable coming in contact with metallic surfaces such as metal rods or grounding planes, thus creating a short-circuit. In addition, this technology can detect any conductive fluid, not just water. With this intelligent cable sensor, businesses can easily detect single or multiple water leaks in a specific area or areas in conjunction with a dedicated LDZ or LD5000 interface or control panel. Companies typically divide a visible area into several zones and monitor each zone using an LDZ multi-zone control panel. Then, the sensing cable is placed on the floor or the sub-floor around the potential leak sources, with each cable monitoring one zone. This allows each zone's sensitivity to be adjusted. If water or other conductive liquids contact the cable anywhere along its length, the control panel annunciates the water and in which zone the leak is located.
Also, for larger areas, businesses can pinpoint the exact location of the water leak using one continuous length of the sensing cable in conjunction with a "distance read" LD5000 control panel. Typically, a single cable sensor can be used for up to several thousand feet ( 5000 ft max: ) and is installed throughout the floor or sub-floor around possible water sources. When a leak occurs, the control head annunciates this information and provides a distance measurement within a few feet. This information is cross-referenced with the cable route map that indicates the corresponding location of the leak. The "distance read" system is ideal for larger areas where it is not possible to view the cable, or any water that may come in contact with it, such as large raised-floor areas.

Water Leak Detection Cable - SC-100
Patented by RLE Technologies (Pat 6,144,209), the SC-100 reliably senses water and conductive fluids. It is easy to install, resists bends and kinks and lies flat after installation. The plenum rated UL listed cable (which can withstand temperatures up to 176F / 80C), is supplied in standard lengths of 25ft/ 7.6m, 50ft / 15m and 100ft / 30m and can be "series" connected to achieve longer zone runs. Custom lengths may be provided, with a modular cable design allowing existing installations to be extended in the field. Cable termination is achieved with "mating connectors".
An abrasion resistant polymer increases sensor cable tensile strength and properly separates the sensing wires from each other. The cable dries quickly without the use of heaters or drying devices. Cable flexibility allows for a small bend radii. No conductive polymers are used in the cables construction - thus eliminating "shorts" that may result from metal (ie spiral wrap conduit or raised foor pedestal) rubbing against the cable.
The detection cables two sensing conductors and two return conductors are configured to determine not only the presence of a fluid, but also its exact location on the floor (via the compatible LDS5000 control panel).
The detection cable resists most contaminates. Alarm response times - less than 20 seconds.
