Linear Heat Detection

Proline "TH" (THERMOCABLE)

Digital Linear Heat Detection - General

WHY DETECT THE FIRE WHEN YOU COULD PREVENT IT?.......Monitoring of overheat conditions AT POINT OF RISK by a temperature sensitive cable with a fixed alarm rating - regardless of 1cm or 1km length exposure.

Not affected by environmental conditions - extrusions and steel braid provides corrosion protection and mechanical damage protection

Once detected , the abnormal condition ( flash fire or overheat) can be signalled by a combination of volt-free contacts,  additional output relays, RS232 Serial interface, SMS messaging -advising exactly when and where the "problem" has occured - Where Proline optional ZI-01RS interface unit range has been specified.

A Proline ZI-03 interface also offers a site programming capability of an associated SINGLE 5000METRES "TH" sensor cable installation. This Provides end users with up to 50 programmable outputs - each dedicated to a specific section of the sensor cable (1metre spatial resolution).Thereby allowing accurate "selective" operation of any associated multiple zone extinguishing, ventilation or smoke extraction system installed within the area covered by the single 5000m sensor cable run.

"TRADITIONAL" AREAS OF USE FOR LINEAR HEAT DETECTION

              POWER GENERATION                                     PETRO-CHEMICAL (Off Shore)

           PETRO-CHEMICAL (On Shore)                       MANUFACTURING

              BULK / RACKED STORAGE                              COMMERCIAL

                ( INCLUDING FREEZER WAREHOUSES)

                METRO SYSTEMS                                            TRANSPORT

                     CAR PARKS                                                 OFF ROAD VEHICLES

                                    + MANY OTHERS

LINEAR HEAT detection system installations include - but are not restricted to - cable trays, transformers,
conveyors, floating roof tanks - rim seal protection, off-shore oil rigs, warehouses (open or high rack storage and freezers), road + rail tunnels, metro stations (under platform / electrical cupboards / escalators), airport terminals and hangars. This list has been extensively increased during the 60 years that linear heat detection has been under development and manufacture to also include - hospitals (service ducts), shopping precincts (escalators / lifts / multi storey car parks), various military and aerospace applications, listed buildings, on and off road vehicles (engine bay protection of HGV's, earth movers, combine harvesters), marine craft (leisure craft - engine bays, ferry - car and storage decks), restaurants (cooker hoods), perimeter fencing protection and call point zone wiring.
Any area where the installation and operational benefits of this small diameter "detector and cable in one" detection device - which can be installed at the precise point of risk (not most convenient roof / ceiling height - can be utilised to the full benefit of the end user and the protection of life and capital investment.
Installation
Easily and rapidly installed when using manufacturers approved and economically priced sensor cable support devices, installed at the recommended 1 to 1.5 m spacing. Ensures correct sensor cable location for the risk to be protected and continuous uninterrupted operation of the system during its anticipated minimum 10 year lifetime.

COMPETITIVE OPERATING SYSTEMS TO "DIGITAL"

Many claims are made by manufacturers of competitive systems to DIGITAL linear heat detection. These include: sensor cable "recoverability" and onsite alarm temperature calibration adjustments.Care should be taken to verify the accuracy and operating effectiveness of such claims in an ACTUAL INSTALLATION SITUATION. Temperature/length/resistance related linear detection systems will generally NOT recover when only a small % of the installed length is exposed ( ie the REAL incipient fire//overheat situation). Alarm temperature adjustments are also normally only possible where zone lengths can be reduced and/or ambient temperatures reduced!!!!
Rate of Rise temperature alarm and real time temperature measurement are "features" offered by other linear detection systems - BUT in the majority of applications where linear detection is installed, rates of temperature rise above alarm thresholds are frequently experienced under NORMAL operating conditions!!
