The ZI-07 interface configuration provides a very defined and easily established “zoning” capability which requires no complicated programming or detailed site environmental data.

Continued operation of the ZI-07 is maintained by its loop wired CAT5 /CAT6 supply/monitoring/signalling cable AND similarly loop wired "TH" sensor cable to its associated zone box. By increasing the loop wiring configuration to include the linear temperature sensing cable, the end user will not lose their detection capability in the event of mechanical damage occuring to either the CAT5/6 cable or Proline "TH" sensor.

Alarm identification – for the purposes of output signalling and operation of any associated extinguishing zone – is simply determined by the number and location of zone boxes installed within the ZI-07 control loop. Each being located at the start of the required zone and being connected to a maximum 2000 metres length (NOW INCREASED TO 3000 METRES) of Proline TH digital linear temperature sensing cable in a loop format.

A ZI-07 installation will consist of a single “host” unit with LCD that will provide the end user with a visual display of the operating status of 1-10 quantity “zone boxes” installed on its CAT5 cable supply, monitoring and signalling loop. In the event of an alarm being detected by one of the “zone boxes”, the “host” will identify which unit is in alarm and provide information as to the distance of the alarm signal along the length of Proline sensor cable connected to it. Where multiple simultaneous alarm conditions are detected by different “zone boxes” the “host” will display information of each in a scrolling fashion.

“zone boxes” will locally identify their individual operating status by way of pulsing colour coded LED's – but will not display alarm location at this area.

Upon receipt of an alarm signal, the common alarm output will operate together with an additional output dedicated to the zone box in alarm. The RS232 serial link provided can also be utilised to repeat the LCD displayed message onto a customer central alarm panel or PC. In the event of a single break occurring in conductors on either the CAT5 supply/monitoring/signalling loop or on one of the installed sensor cables, any resulting open circuit condition will be signalled as a control loop or sensor cable loop fault. Such a condition will NOT reduce the detection capabilities of the ZI-07 because of its loop wired configuration.

Output signalling includes:

  • Fault - Proline Sensor Cable
  • Fault - Supply/ monitoring/signalling loop
  • Alarm - Common Sensor Cable
  • Alarm - By "zone box" (maximum 10 per ZI-07)
  • RS232 Serial Link

Features & Benefits

  • Line powered – no requirement at zone boxes for local power supplies

  • Continued detection of overheat / fire – with fault on sensor cable or control /monitoring loop

  • Detection at ANY and ALL points along sensor cable lengths

  • Not affected by RFI, EMC, Adverse Environments (including many corrosive)

  • Up to 2kms CAT5 specification power / control/monitoring loop

  • 10 zone box maximum to each ZI-07 loop

  • Now 3kms (3,000m)“TH” sensor cable connected in loop format to each zone box

  • Alarm Temperature not reliant on any minimum sensor cable length exposure

  • Design lengths unaffected by local ambient temperatures

  • Multiple Alarm Temperatures from a single “zone box”

  • Pulsing LED's on zone box(Green-Normal, Amber-Fault, Red-Alarm)to reduce power requirements
