Interface Unit - ZI-02

The ZI-02 provides connection and monitoring of two (2) lengths of Proline "TH" digital linear temperature sensing cables - each length a maximum of 2000 metres /,6500 ft in length . A maximum 50 ohms resistance interconnecting cable can be used for EACH of the two "channels" of linear detection where the ZI-02 is to be installed remote from the risk area - within a security office or control room.
Output signals from the ZI-02 can be any combination of ALARM, PRE-ALARM, AMBIENT TEMPERATURE RISE WARNING - as indicated by Channel 1 / Channel 2 below.
ALARM & PRE-ALARM conditions both provide alarm point location indication. AMBIENT TEMPERATURE RISE conditions will provide an output signal but not alarm point location as it is a temperature reading as an average along the total installed sensor cable length.

Output Signalling Description
ALARM:
Detection of a temperature at ANY and ALL points along a connected length of Proline sensor cable which reaches or exceeds its alarm rating. Options: 45C/ 113F, 68C/155F, 88C/190F,105C/221F, 185C/365F No minimum length exposure necessary.
LCD display will read Fir1 or Fir2 depending which of the 2 channels has detected the alarm condition .
Alarm output contact closes plus Alarm point location indication is sent by the ZI-02 serial ports in the sequence.. Fire, Channel i.d (1 or 2), distance (numerical) and units (feet or metres depending on customer selection).
PRE-ALARM:
Similar to the alarm condition described above, but where the sensor cable selected for pre-alarm signalling is of a lower temperature rating to that specified for the main alarm signal.
LCD display will read Pre1 or Pre2 depending on channel in alarm.

AMBIENT TEMPERATURE RISE WARNING
The temperature measured is an average of the entire length (minimum 100 metres) of the TH sensor cable installed on a channel.
The setting for this must be greater than the normal ambient temperature but lower than the alarm temperature rating of the installed sensor cable. A subsequent fall in ambient temperature below the configured pre-alarm level will result in an automatic re-set of the ZI-02.

Pre-alarm output contact closes plus Pre-Alarm, overheat, Channel i.d (1 or 2) is sent by the ZI-02 serial port.
FAULT:
Loss of 24vdc power supply to the ZI-02 interface or an open circuit on Proline TH linear heat sensor cable and/or any interconnecting cable used will result in the unit fault contact operation (N/C - open on fault ).
